Bring the New Orleans vibe into your community with the extraordinary sounds of the Gumbo Gumbas. The Gumbo Gumbas are “A delicious medley of authentic New Orleans Jazz with a side of Creole". They play music that will make you happy and want to jump for joy and get their influences from the city that started it all in American music, New Orleans. The band blends the elements of jazz, Zydeco, R&B, funk, and rock into a big old fashioned southern stew. This band was formed as a result of Gumbo Gumbas band leader Joe Grillo's many pilgrimages to the New Orleans for Jazzfest and French Quarter Fest. His love for the city, the people, food, music, art, and general vibe has inspired him to bring some of this culture up north. He is always amazed at how many people from the north have never been to New Orleans or have no idea what the experience of NOLA is like. As a kid Joe was influenced by Louis Armstrong and Louie Prima. People often associate New Orleans with the French but there was also a very strong Italian presence in the French Quarter. His vision for this band is to bring together many elements of Louisiana music: Zydeco, Dixieland, funk, blues, into one cohesive sound that he calls Zydeland. Project B3 is a 1960’s style R&B/jazz organ trio. They perform classic songs by Jr. Walker, King Curtis and other greats of the era as well as original compositions. The band is composed of Saxophonist/vocalist Joe Grillo, Organist Steve Rice and drummer David Anthony. Available as a quartet and quintet for larger venues. More info
